Beautiful Kauai

Here are some photos of my recent trip to Kauai, an island of Hawaii. It is absolutely beautiful there. The entire island looks like a postcard. I did a lot of hiking and some swimming too. Enjoy the photos!

I was in Taiwan for 2 weeks, busy with recording 5 english songs for my new album, as well as a new chinese song. I was also filmed in a new Dr. Julie program that is being editted right now. We couldn't leave Australia without visiting Sydney! Here are some photos from Sydney including some of the camera crew and Director Lin, as well as footage from a music video. Now that we're done with the filming, it's up to Editor Chou and Director Lin to edit the videos and then we will have the finished product!

For one of my videos, we filmed at an equestrian center on the Gold Coast. I took horseback riding lessons for a summer during high school. But it's been a while since I last rode a horse! I must say it was easier to ride the horse than to walk him. Here's a photo of me and Rembrandt, a beautiful sand-colored 15 year old horse.

After the concert, I headed to sunny Australia to shoot new MV's for my favorite English songs. This is my very first time in Australia and it's just as beautiful as everyone says it is. Here I am on a beach filming a new version of Heaven. And of course I have to meet some local kangaroos!

On my last day before heading back to Seattle, I tried on several beautiful dresses for the 2-28 concert. Here is the dress I will wear for the 2 Carmen songs. The concert is close to being sold out after 2 weeks of advertising! It will be an exciting night of beautiful music.

Hello everyone! I had my first rehearsal with the orchestra and choir today for the 2-28 concert in Taipei. The rehearsal went very well. I'm back in the US after a month in Taiwan. I'm coming out with a new album of inspiring Buddhist songs very soon so be on the lookout! I have a concert in Taipei on 2-28 and I hope to see you all there. In the meantime, I am working on writing my own songs in English. I'll keep you posted. Later!

MV Recording Day 3

Today is our third day of recording. It's a lot of fun but it's also hard work! We met for breakfast at 7:00 am and didn't eat lunch today until 3pm! We started the day at Yang-Ming mountain where it was very foggy, but that added to the ambience of the video. By the time we were at a temple in Dan Shui, the sun was shining brightly.

We bypassed the cloudy and rainy weather today in Taipei to go south to a garden in Dah Si. It was a good decision as the weather felt like spring there. The blue sky and colorful garden was perfect for the MV of the upbeat song "Hold on to Buddha's hand".

My September Songs

For my trip to Taiwan in September, I wanted to do an album in Chinese, and also one that would be inspirational to my audience. So I teamed up with a talented composer, Wong Music Teacher, who composes beautiful Buddhist music. We chose five songs to start the album of Buddhist songs. I wrote the melody for one song praising Quan-Yin, the Boddhisatva of Compassion, so this album is very personal and dear to me. Combined with the wonderful sense of visual arts and imagery of Director Lin, the five music videos we made in September are emotional and powerful. I'm looking forward to the final version of the music videos and sharing with everyone!

We recorded music videos at our very own WTV studio. I had the great opportunity to work with Director Lin, who has many years of experience as director. In addition to studio shots, we shot some outdoors videos. It's harder work to make videos outdoors but the result is more natural, with a different style. Here's a photo from "Hero" at a park.

I spent 2 days recording the 12 music videos at CTS! We all worked very hard and completed the recording on schedule. This was my second recording session at CTS so I felt much more comfortable this time. Here's a photo of me preparing to record "Carrickfergus."

Interview

I had an interview with Jacko today! We discussed my interpretation of the 12 songs I chose and talked about how being a singer and a doctor can both help people feel happy and healthy. The interview was mostly in Chinese and sometimes in English. Jacko's English was very good and I felt comfortable talking to him.

I spent 3 days recording 12 songs! I had a great music director who helped me a lot. He was very familiar with the music I chose. We both worked really hard to have the best recording possible for my favorite songs.
